Arne Slot’s Liverpool are heading into a busy summer transfer window, with HITC reporting that the club are keen to sign a new centre-back this summer.

We believe Lille defender Lenny Yoro is the Reds’ top target, but despite Liverpool’s heavy efforts on the young Frenchman, Real Madrid prefer the 18-year-old.

The Reds’ last option is understood to be Feyenoord defender David Hanke, with HITC reporting in January that Liverpool were interested in him.

However, we also understand that Atletico Madrid are currently leading the race for the 26-year-old Championship defender.

Ashley Williams responds to Liverpool’s interest in Hanko

Despite Liverpool’s interest in Hanko, the Reds have never made a move for the Slovak defender, but with Slott becoming the new manager at Anfield, the club may reconsider the move.

Hanko has impressed at Feyenoord since joining Sparta Prague for £5m in 2022 and has been in fine form so far at Euro 2024.

Former Everton and Swansea City defender Ashley Williams was asked about the Reds’ interest in the Slovakia international during an interview with the BBC.

“To be honest, after the header against Belgium the other day, I wasn’t surprised,” Williams said. “I’m really impressed with him. Athletic and quick. What I like about him is that he’s confident and backs himself up in one-on-one situations.

The Reds were in favor of establishing a supporters-team relationship with the 26-year-old defender in January, according to his agent.

“As an agency we are in contact not only with members of both clubs (Liverpool and PSG) but also with others who are investigating David’s situation,” said Branislav Jasurek, who works for Versports.

As for Liverpool’s other centre-back options, Versports found out the club are keen on signing Virgil van Dijk to a new contract.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr will continue to be interested in the defender but the Reds do not want to lose the 32-year-old this summer.
