The Addicks were pleased with the impact Jones made when he arrived last season as he quickly began to alleviate Championship relegation fears.

The club are keen to back him this summer as they look to reshape their squad to move up the league table.

Charlton have been busy transforming their squad, with the likes of Luke Perry, Josh Edwards, Will Mannion and Alex Mitchell already arriving.

Jones has just warmed up, with nine new faces expected to be in the building by the end of the transfer window, meaning there are five more to come.

The Wales manager is ambitious and keen to build a team capable of finishing at the top of the league.

Charlton may have to deal with unexpected departures which could increase the total number of signings required.

Huddersfield, who have just been relegated from League One, are trying to sign Charlton forward Alfie May, the league’s top scorer last season.
