Diego Simeone confirms two Atletico Madrid signings imminent

Atletico Madrid have had a great summer, signing Robin Lenormand, Alexandre Soros, Julian Alvarez and Connor Gallagher. They’re not done yet, with more signings due before the transfer window closes next week.

Rather, Diego Simeone confirmed during Saturday’s pre-match press conference that two more players will be heading to Civitas Metropolitano. He also revealed that they are expected to join soon, most likely within the next 24 hours.

Clement Lenglet will be one of them, with Atletico having reached an agreement with Barcelona to loan the defender out for the 2024-25 season. The second player to arrive will be a new backup goalkeeper following Horatiu Moldova’s move to Serie B side Sassuolo – something that was confirmed on Friday.

It remains to be seen who the mysterious “Guardian” is. Atletico Madrid have been linked with the likes of Walter Benitez and Justin Bilo in recent weeks, but at this stage it’s difficult to say who will be Jan Oblak’s replacement this season.
