According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Manchester City is interested in signing Real Madrid goalkeeper Andre Lunin in the summer window. English clubs are looking to sign a new goalkeeper amid uncertainty over Ederson’s future.

Andriy Lunin’s story takes a turn

Andriy Lunin joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 from Zorya Luhansk. Even this season, before Thibaut Courtois got injured, he wasn’t the primary option.

One man’s loss is another man’s gain. Lunin seized the opportunity with both hands and proved his worth on the biggest stage. He featured in 31 games and kept 12 clean sheets while conceding 32 goals.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper has proven that he is capable of playing for a top club like Real Madrid. He is good at interpreting threats and anticipating attackers’ actions. He is good at blocking and distributing the ball and remains calm under pressure.

Signing a contract is certainly not an easy task

Manchester City have been linked with a number of goalkeepers over the past few months. Their sudden interest comes after reports emerged that Saudi Arabia were interested in Ederson. The Brazilian is an integral part of the team and his departure will affect the team’s strength.

The Citizens have added Stefan Ortega to their roster and he’s going to be great whenever he gets the chance. However, given the length of the season and the number of games, having just one world-class goalie is too risky.

As a result, the Premier League champions have identified Andre Lunin as a viable target to fill Ederson’s void. The four-year-old proved his stakes on the big night and could be a long-term investment. But they have to convince players of the role he plays in their exciting sporting program.

In addition, the English side must also reach an agreement with Real Madrid, who are in no rush to sell the talented goalkeeper in the summer.
