Manchester United join the race to land Aston Villa star

Manchester United are expected to have a busy summer as they look to build a strong squad for next season. In the latest development, they have joined the race to sign Aston Villa striker Jon Dolan in the transfer window.

Jon Duran’s playing time limited

John Duran joined Aston Villa from Chillago Flames in the winter of 2023. However, that wasn’t enough to earn him a spot in the team’s starting lineup.

Duran played primarily off the bench throughout the season, appearing in 37 games. He scored eight goals but provided no assists in the process. He averaged 0.8 shots per game, 0.2 key passes, and 0.1 dribbles (data from whoscored).

The Colombian is physically strong and has good shooting skills near the penalty area. Because of his playing style, he is always a threat on the counterattack. With his aerial dominance and defensive contributions, he remains a valuable option in the team.

Should Manchester United sign John Dolan?

United need to strengthen their squad ahead of next season if they want to compete for all the trophies. However, their interest in John Duran is a bit hard to digest as they already have Rasmus Hoylund up front.

Even if the Red Devils want to bring in a player who can compete with the Danish striker, they should opt for an experienced player. There is little point in pursuing Duran because he is currently 20 years old and needs consistent playing time to improve his game.

In addition, Aston Villa also asked for a price of around 40 million euros to approve the move. United will have to decide whether they are willing to invest so much in the youngster or try to sign someone else. In addition, Chelsea and Fulham are also involved in the competition to sign this talented player.
