Manchester United have joined Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in showing interest in signing Wolves captain Max Kilman this summer, according to Give Me Sport.

Manchester United are in the market for a new centre-back with reports claiming they have identified Kilman as Jarrad Branthwaite’s replacement as Everton’s demands for the defender far exceed the Red Devils’ budget .

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have also been heavily linked with Kilman in recent months, with GMS saying the pair are “circling” the Wolves star, but they now face New competition from Manchester United.

Kilman has reportedly had a solid season in Wolves’ backline and Wolves are now “concerned” that other teams may approach the player and have put a £50m price tag on him.

They are expected to remain firm in their assessment, which they believe could convince interested parties to “move their attention elsewhere” from Kilman, who has been described as an “outstanding” player by former team-mate Connor Coady .

Manchester United had prioritized signing Jarrad Branthwaite, but Everton’s asking price of £70m stopped them as they were not expected to be prepared to spend more than £45m.

Kilman is a good signing for Manchester United

Max Kilman has been playing in England for many years and despite his vast experience, he still has plenty of prime time ahead of him considering he is only 27 years old.

He is naturally a left-sided centre-back but will occasionally play at left-back, which will help the Red Devils kill two birds with one stone as Tyrell Malacia’s poor fitness has left Luke Shaw overworked at full-back.

While United are not expected to spend more than £45m on a defender, Kilman’s versatility could see them compromise by adjusting their budget.

Tottenham are also keen to sign the Englishman but it is understood they will be unable to meet Wolves’ financial demands, while West Ham United are also likely to be in trouble after their £25m bid was rejected.

Manchester United can largely be considered the front-runners for Kilman, but it’s worth noting that they haven’t held any concrete talks for him yet.
