In a recent tweet, journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that Real Madrid have identified Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich as a target for this summer transfer window. Los Blancos are reportedly considering bringing the German talent to the Spanish capital but would have to compete with Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona in pursuit of him.

Kimmich’s impressive season in Bundesliga

The 29-year-old has been in fine form at the Allianz Arena, making a number of impactful performances on the right side of Bayern’s defence. Kimmich played 43 games for the Bavarian club last season, scoring several goals and providing 10 assists.

The Germany international averaged 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 shots and 2.6 key passes per game in the Bundesliga, proving his worth in the midfield. He also distributes possession relatively well, according to his 91.3% pass success rate in Germany’s top flight (statistics from whoscored).

Kimmich’s contract with Bayern Munich ends next season. As a result, Los Blancos could sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

What will Kimmich bring to Real Madrid?

Kimmich loves to tackle and can make some important interceptions for his team in the center of the park. He has no hesitation in clearing danger when required and is a pure forward from distance.

The German midfield ace can even create some tempting chances for his teammates in the final third. He primarily plays as a right-back but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a holding midfielder on request.

We can expect Kimmich to bring more quality to Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti’s side. He is capable of fighting for first-team football at the Madrid club next season. The German talent might even help Real Madrid compete for some major trophies in the future.

At 29 years old, Kimmich is still in his prime and has extensive experience at the highest level. As such, he would be a good option for the Madrid giants to pursue later this summer.
