In a recent report, Calciomercato provided an update on the future of Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior. Sources claim that the Gunners have no intention of selling the Polish defender, despite AC Milan’s interest in him during this summer’s transfer window.

Chiviol’s outstanding performances in north London last season

Chiviol has enjoyed a solid season at the north London club after a string of impressive performances at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s defence. The Polish genius played 30 games for Arsenal last season, scoring 1 goal and 3 assists.

The 24-year-old excels in the defensive half, averaging 1.0 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 1.2 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He is even accurate when distributing possession from the back, completing 85.8% of his passes in the league (stats from whoscored).

His current contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in the summer of 2028.

Should Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta retain Chiviol’s services beyond this summer?

Chiviol is a defensively strong full-back who can make the odd tackle for his team when he plays with confidence on the pitch. He usually uses his feet to pass the ball when opponents are on the front foot, but he needs to work on improving his contribution in the final third.

The Polish talent mainly plays as a left-back but can also play as a centre-back if required. He has proven himself to be an excellent rotational player in Mikel Arteta’s matchday squad last season.

Chiviol, 24, is getting better every season and could help the Gunners compete for a number of important honours. It would therefore make sense for Arsenal to try and retain the Polish defender’s services beyond this summer.

Chiviol is good enough to become a key member of the north London club’s first team in the coming seasons. He has grown a lot as a footballer recently under the expert guidance of Arteta. Therefore, it makes sense for the player to stay at the Emirates Stadium and compete for regular first-team football.
