Tottenham and Arsenal in race for 23-year-old Spanish talent

Premier League giants have turned their attention to Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia after an impressive season in Segunda División. His saves were a key part of the team’s return to La Liga this year and he has also earned himself a spot in the Spanish squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer.

Garcia, 23, has earned the top spot this season ahead of Fernando Pacheco, who was signed. He is also expected to be Spain’s No. 1 player at the Paris Olympics. Jijantes’ Gerard Romero (via MD ) reports that Arsenal are interested in Garcia, while Diario AS assures that London rivals Tottenham are also keen on signing Garcia.

Espanyol would require him to pay a €25m release clause if either of them wanted to do so, although it has been suggested that Spurs may already be in talks with Espanyol over him. He recently signed a new contract with Los Pericos until 2028, meaning they have no reason to accept a reduced fee. Real Madrid were also thought to be interested in him at one point, but it seems they will not make a move for him.

Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on a goalkeeper in case Andre Lunin decides to leave the club this summer, while he could also be a replacement for Guglielmo Vicario at Tottenham – Fraser Fo Sturt is 36 and could be leaving. Aaron Ramsdale is likely to leave the Emirates Stadium as he is replaced by David Raya.
