The north London club are said to be looking to strengthen their squad this transfer window as they continue to rebuild under the guidance of Anj Postkoglu. The Australian coach is reportedly willing to sign a new centre-back and forward, but a new midfielder is also on his agenda.

However, according to reports from Aslinda, Tottenham are also planning to sign a new number 10, with Szymanski high on their wish list.

The report further claims that Lazio and Olympique de Marseille are also keen to sign him, but it’s the Lilywhites who have shown the “most serious” interest in signing him.

Aslinda also said Tottenham plan to start talks with Fenerbahce over a deal soon, with them prepared to spend around £17m for the Poland international.

Szymanski to Tottenham Hotspur

The 25-year-old was outstanding last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 19 assists in 55 appearances in all competitions. Following impressive performances for Fenerbahce, the midfielder was called up to play for his country at the European Championships.

Szymanski started Poland’s first game against the Netherlands but failed to show his best and was substituted at half-time. After that, he still did not play in the next game against Austria.

Poland lost both games in the European Cup and was eliminated from the tournament. So that raises the question of whether he has what it takes to take the next step.

However, Spurs have made James Maddison their first choice for their number ten, so they could opt to sign Szymanski as a replacement for the former Leicester City star.

The 25-year-old has excellent skills and is able to thread passes between the lines, create opportunities for attackers, finish his own chances and work hard without possession of the ball.

However, it will be interesting to see whether the North London club end up signing the Poland international should he leave the Turkish club this transfer window.
