Tottenham Hotspur stance forces club to withdraw from competition

Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League last season and missed the Champions League, but qualified for the Europa League.

Head coach Anj Postkoglu hopes his players can achieve better results next season, although as well as bringing in new faces, Spurs are also looking to offload unpopular stars.

The club loaned defender Jed Spence to Italian team Genoa for the second half of the season with a purchase option of €10 million.

Genoa found the amount too high and has been trying to negotiate a lower amount.

According to Beglain reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Genoa will now drop out of the race as Spurs will not let Spence go for less than €7 million.

Instead, the Italians are focusing their attention on Alessandro Zanoli at Napoli.

They plan to loan Zanoli out for €500,000 this season, with an obligation to buy next summer for €6 million.

If Spence is not sold or loaned before then, he will return to Tottenham Hotspur for pre-season.
