After a disappointing season for the Hammers domestically and on the continent, David Moyes was sacked by the club and Julen Lopetegui took over as new manager.

With the summer transfer market in full swing, many West Ham United fans will be eager to see some new players and curious to see who their new Spanish manager is targeting.

One important area they must strengthen is at the center position, where the club is trying to fill the void left by the frequently injured Michail Antonio last season.

The Hammers have inquired about Newcastle United striker Wilson, who has just one year left on his contract at St James’ Park, according to Chronicle Live.

Reports suggest that while the 32-year-old would prefer to stay at the club, he may consider leaving if it helps his involvement in Southgate’s plans for the next World Cup.

Wilson scored nine goals and provided one assist in 20 Premier League games for Eddie Howe’s side last season, but he was primarily a back-up to Alexander Isak, with the French striker seen as a replacement in that position star player.

The report also claims that the England striker is worth £18 million, which could help Howe’s team free up some funds.
